Since January, students from the Emily Carr University of Art + Design have been working on an audio/video project called EcoMUSICology: Howe Soundz. The project aims to raise awareness of the interconnected ecological, cultural, and recreational resources of the lower mainland. ONC’s Dave Riddell has been working with Sarah Van Borek to help her students incorporate Ocean Networks Canada video and hydrophone audio recordings into some of their works. On April 2, the students will launch an exhibit of their completed works at the Vancouver Maritime Museum. The exhibit is open to the public and will run from April 2–8. Dave will be attending the opening event and participating in a Q&A with the audience as well as contributing ONC audio and video to the exhibit.
Update: Emily Carr student audio/video projects featuring Ocean Networks Canada hydrophone audio clips are now live on the David Suzuki Foundation YouTube channel.
