Ocean Networks Canada’s Ship2Shore Marine Educators’ Program offers educators (formal and informal) and students an exciting opportunity to understand the importance of our ocean, gain insight into current oceanographic research, and incorporate marine science into the classroom in a unique and effective way.
Classrooms and other learning intuitions on shore have the opportunity to connect live through video conferencing to discuss ocean science, technology, and life in the sea.
Educators may also participate in at sea expeditions where they work alongside scientists, engineers, and technicians, documenting and sharing their experience of a lifetime!
During their time at sea, educators will be responsible for one or more following tasks; writing daily blogs, posting pictures, conducting interviews with ship members, contributing to live telepresence, connecting with classes via video conferencing equipment, and developing marine science lesson plans of their choice. Educators who participate in Ocean Networks Canada’s Ship2Shore program will have the understanding and knowledge to incorporate marine science and technology into their curriculum and encourage their students to become ocean stewards. Meet our Marine Educator Alumni.
